On the way to work each morning, I pass through exactly ten traffic lights.
It is a proven fact that my daily professional appearance directly relates to how many red lights I encounter during my commute. I mean, how else does a working mom get her makeup on and still get to work on time?
It takes approximately one stoplight’s worth of time to dig out my cosmetic brushes and foundation, unless I’m really winning and get them ready before I start my drive.
It takes another stoplight’s worth of time to apply a tinted moisturizer, plus another for any concealer or finishing powder, depending on my mood.
Eyeshadow is tricky. Each eye takes roughly one stoplight, with a third stoplight reserved for blending and/or mascara.
Depending on what kind of a traffic pattern I’m in on any given day, I have enough stoplights left over to add some lipstick.
And if I ever get lucky enough to hit a gridlock, I bust out the tweezers. It’s been months since I gave a care what people in the lane next to me must think of me. Momma’s gotta do what Momma’s gotta do.
What’s your secret to looking ready to take on the world?
